Red Velvet Brownies
Chewy, delicious and easy, these homemade red velvet brownies are a fun and festive way to celebrate Valentine's Day.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar

  • 1 oz red food coloring (more or less can be used as desired)

  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder natural or Dutch process

  • 2 large eggs, room temperature

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 tsp salt

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare and 8×8 inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.

  2. In a mixing bowl beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, approximately 2-3 minutes. Add in food coloring and beat until well combined. Add in cocoa powder and beat until well combined. Add in eggs, one at a time, beating until combined after each egg.

  3. Add in flour and salt, and mix by hand until well combined, but do not overmix. Transfer mixture to prepared baking pan.

  4. Bake for approximately 35-45 minutes or until center of brownie starts to set (won't jiggle when you shake the pan gently) and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely on a wire cooling rack.

  5. If desired, once brownies are completely cool, frost with cream cheese frosting.
