RICHARD DAVID JAMES
President

After 4 very successful years in the insurance business, Richard started Financial Services of America in 1984 with the goal of assisting clients with every aspect of their financial lives - from insurance to investments to tax planning to retirement and estate planning.  Since then FSA has grown to be one of the largest and most prestigious financial service companies in Michigan.  

JEFF D. MEDVEDIK
Senior Executive Vice-President

Jeff holds the designation of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor from the College of Financial Planning. In 1981, Jeff earned his Life Insurance license and in 1987, he earned his Securities Representative License. Jeff is currently licensed through Independence Capital Securities. 

 

SCOTT CARLSON
Senior Executive Vice-President

Scott joined Financial Services of America in 1992. He is a member of the Million Dollar Round Table, a highly respected ethics organization and a member of the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors. Scott is also a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor through the College of Financial Planning.

MICHAEL L. WALLACE
Senior Executive Vice-President 

Mike joined Financial Services of America in 1991 after graduating from Michigan State University with a BA in business. He currently holds many securities licenses including Series 7, 63, 65 and 24.  This allows Mike to market and sevices mutual funds as well as individual stocks and bonds.  Mike is also a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor through the College of Financial Planning.

MARK KERSTEN
Senior Executive Vice-President 

Mark joined the Financial Services of America family in 1993 and works primarily with clients aged 50 and older in the areas of asset preservation, tax reduction strategies, insurance planning and wealth transfer. Mark has earned the title of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor SM from the College for Financial Planning.

 

MARK A. VIROSTICK
Senior Executive Vice-President

Mark is a Senior Executive Vice Presiden and has over 14 years experience in this industry.  He is also a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, which acknowledges his understanding of significant senior issues such as Estate Planning, Investment Strategies, Tax Planning, Medicare and Medicaid Planning, Risk Planning, Asset Allocation, 401(K) and IRA Strategies.

MICHAEL J. LAUX
Senior Vice-President

Michael is a Senior Vice President who has 14 years in the brokerage business, primarily in the area of retail brokerage. He spent a few years trading and investing for his own account and then then joined Financial Services of America, becoming one of top established agents. Michael teaches business techniques and manages other agents, working closely with new Financial Services of America trainees.

PHILLIP C. NORKUS
Executive Vice-President

Phil began his career at Financial Services of America in 1988 after having worked for the Army in aviation and military intelligence.  He received numerous industry awards, primarily in the life insurance field.  Phil eventually focused on mutual funds and annuities.  In 1992, he was promoted to Executive Vice President of Financial Services of America.

WILLIAM H. MC CARTY
Executive Vice-President

Bill is a Senior Vice President and a Registered Representative with Independence Capital Corporation. He began his financial planning career with AXA/Equitable over 20 years ago and has completed extensive training in retirement investing and estate planning.  In addition to Life, Health, Property and Casualty Insurance licenses, Bill holds Series 6 and 63 securities licenses and has completed extensive training in Senior Investment Planning.

JOHN M. COLE
Senior Vice-President

John earned his B.S. in Business Administration from Wayne State University.  He joined FSA in 2001 and provides his clients with strategies for asset accumulation, wealth preservation, and wealth transfer.   He is a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor and holds his series 6 and 63 securities licenses in addition to his life, health, and property and casualty insurance licenses.  In addition to working with his clients, he mentors many of the newer agents entering the industry.

 

JOHN SAUGER
Vice-President 

John graduated from Butler University with a BA in Science & Education. John has over 13 years experience as an educator, and over 6 years experience working with and consulting retirees. He is a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor SM, and holds a State of Michigan Life insurance license and a Series 6 & 63 license.

SCOTT G. WATSON
Senior Vice-President

Scott has been in the business/financial/insurance industry over the past 35 years. He holds a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designation through the College of Financial Planning and also carries Life, Health, Property and Casualty Insurance licenses. Scott works with retirees through FSA’s headquarters in Warren, MI and also runs the Grand Rapids, MI facility which services Western Michigan.

CARL D. POPKO
Senior Executive Vice-President

Carl joined FSA in 1991 and later became the President of American Estate Services which specializes in Living Trusts. Carl has earned the designation of C.R.P.C. (Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor) through The College of Financial Planning which focuses on estate planning, tax planning, Medicare and Medicaid planning, risk planning, and retirement plan distributions.
